#Poetry #Poem SELF CHECK by Bill Kochman https://www.billkochman.com/Poetry 09-19-2024 If you’re going to preach the Gospel, It is important to have a soft heart, If your attitude is one of superiority, Friend, you are off to a terrible start. If your intention is only to condemn, And isn’t tempered with God’s love, How can you honestly even believe, That you are inspired from above? We need to preach the full message, God truly requires this of us indeed, But it takes both patience & wisdom, As we go planting the Gospel seed. Now if you try following this formula, It should yield a much better result, But if you choose to be cold & harsh, Only poor fruit will be your own fault. Thus before you go out witnessing, Take some time to pray to the Lord, Ask Him to put you in the right spirit, So His grace & love on you is poured.

Or just to hear the sheep squeal, When we poke 'em with our sword? Do we just want to brag to folks, As if we're so holy and the best? If that is what is prompting you, You ought to just give it a rest. We need to each check ourselves, Shine our motives in God's light, If we don't preach out of love, Then our heart is just not right.
